When I first heard of the Fit EV, I was skeptical of a compliance car from Honda. Then people started driving the cars and I was hearing great things. I had to try it out. My friend Peder Norby just got his hands on his own Honda Fit EV and he let me drive his … Continue reading
Honda Fit EV Affordable?
Today Honda leased the very first Fit EV to EV advocate Matt Walton. From what he’s said about it on Facebook, the car seems pretty great. I am hesitant to lease a car, for many reasons that I won’t get into here, but the Fit EV is a pretty good deal. One thing to note … Continue reading
Compliance Cars
I just read this great article on Green Car Reports about compliance cars. The sad reality is that most EVs being released next year are compliance cars. In fact, even some of my top car choices are compliance cars. Right now, I’m seriously considering the CODA Sedan, Nissan LEAF, and Ford Focus EV. Other compliance cars, … Continue reading
Qualcomm Halo
I’ve just joined this project at work. It looks pretty neat. I am impressed with the efficiency claims.
EVCard: New Resource from Plug In America
EVCard: New Resource from Plug In America
Plug In America has created a new system for EV drivers to communicate with one another. The concept, based on similar cards used on the last generation of EVs, is very simple: Print out a card that lets other drivers know how urgently you need a charge. If your trip depends on the charge, they won’t unplug you unless your full, and they can plug you in if they notice that you aren’t plugged in (if all of the charging stations were full when you arrived). If you are just topping off, drivers who are relying on a charge to complete their trip will know they can unplug you. I think this is an awesome idea, and in the perfect world all EV drivers would have these. Hopefully they catch on and become commonplace.
EV Comparison
For the past couple of months, I’ve been (slowly) gathering data on the EVs I’m interested in: CODA Sedan, Ford Focus EV, Nissan LEAF, and Honda Fit EV. I have created a table with the specs of these vehicles (along with the Mitsubishi ‘i’ and the Honda Civic Hybrid, my current vehicle). Check out the … Continue reading

The Infiniti LE Concept is beautiful! I would jump on this if it were available.
Details of Ford Focus EV Still Unclear
Today I heard that the 2012 Ford Focus EV is available. Last I checked Ford had slated the vehicle for April, so it’s entirely possible that the EV is out. If the Focus EV is indeed available, Ford needs to get the word out. It seems as though they want it to be a failure. … Continue reading
As you probably already know, my next car will plug in. As I get ready to select my next vehicle in the next six months to one year, I have decided to shift this blog to focus on my search for the EV that is best for me. (Thanks to Paul Scott for the idea!) … Continue reading
