Honda Fit EV Lease Price Reduced

Tonight I got a wonderful email from Honda announcing that the Fit EV lease price has been reduced to $259/mo. I knew this was coming. Honda’s $389 lease couldn’t compete with the Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus Electric, Fiat 500e, and Chevy Spark EV all around $199/mo, even with its included collision insurance, roadside assistance, and maintenance. What I didn’t expect was for Honda to reduce the lease price for those of us who already agreed to pay $389/mo. Perhaps Honda didn’t want us to feel that we had suffered for being early adopters. Whatever their reasoning, I’m sure glad they did it. They are saving me over $3500 over the remainder of my lease! Thanks Honda!!

Additionally, Honda has officially removed the mileage cap on the Fit EV lease. When I leased the car I heard from a number of Honda reps that they weren’t going to charge us for going over 12,000 miles per year, but the cap was written in the lease. This is great news for people who were having trouble staying under the 12,000 mi/year limit.

Honda goes on to try to sell you solar through a partnership with Solar City. I understand that EVs and photovoltaic solar (EV/PV) go perfectly together, and I urge everyone (whether you drive an EV or not) to get solar. However, I am getting a little tired of getting these borderline advertisements for Solar City from Honda.

For new Honda Fit EV lessees in California, the $259/mo lease minus the $2,500 CVRP brings the net monthly payment down to $190 month plus tax. Keep in mind that most of the other automakers’ $199/mo leases don’t qualify for the CVRP rebate. This is a great deal when you factor in comprehensive and collision insurance, maintenance, and roadside assistance included with the Fit EV lease. I hope (and I’m sure Honda is hoping too) that this is enough to bring the Fit EV out of its current position of “worst selling car in America”.
